Facade Lighting Concept 

The Piraeus Tower was an abandoned high rise building in the main port of Greece. The competition was calling for fresh design proposals to re-establish the landmark quality of the building in the skyline of the port.

The lighting proposal draws inspiration from the nocturnal interplay of the moonlight and the wind on the surface of the mediterranean sea.The lighting is directed by the wind in real-time, having gentle and subtle changes in the intensity of the cool white light that evolves throughout the new facade as the wind speed alters. Compact programmable LED modules are integrated into the fins of the side facades and into the fins of the podium.The two smaller facades are kept in darkness subduing the (much criticised) volume of the building.
